Pretty in Pink

Carrie, E & Jaime!

Weddings & More Weddings!

I'm finally happy to announce that I am really in DC now :) And by that I mean no more crazy trips back up to MA for weddings or anything else until at least Thanksgiving, which I am honestly quite thankful for right now! After my first few days in Georgetown, I packed up some things and drove back home for Jaime's wedding. It was an interesting affair, since all the bridesmaids were from our group of high school friends. The ceremony was at a church right in town and the reception was down by the Plymouth waterfront. The entire affair was beautiful, from the dresses and the flowers to the music and speakers. Having the old gang together also made this first wedding of old friends even more special. As a group, we were able to catch up and remember many forgotten moments. This weekend I went back home again for the wedding of another high school friend--one with whom I enjoyed many fine weeks of Band Camp! I was not sure what to expect from this wedding, since the bride is a true one-of-a kind person and friend. The ceremony was simple and well thought out. The reception--just next door--was a remarkable blend of the traditional and the unusual. From the selection of music and dancing in honor of the Moroccan heritage of the groom to the BBQ dinner, it was entertaining and memorable.

Last night with Miss Jess B!

Going Away Party!

After my last day of work, I was lucky enough to spend the rest of the night with good friends. Jess and I ran a few errands, which culminated in a huge adventure at Target and a gas grill. Back at our house, Andy and Samara joined us for some beers and a fire out in a new deck firepit! We ordered pizza from Conte's and enjoyed the summer evening. Later on there was even a bit of Jenga and Kings to be played! It was a near-perfect ending. The next day Z played at Lincoln Ctr as part of the "Out of Doors" concert series. He played with an afrobeat band, which rocked the plaza. It was such a great concert that you didn't mind sitting in the sun and heat, because the music was just that fantastic!

Moving, Good Byes, and Anticipated Outings

Once again, it's time for me to say goodbye to dear old Princeton. They say you only get to say goodbye once, but I am a firm believer that you can say it many more times than that. I mean, I am running on about 7 just with Princeton! I was walking on campus today with S as we went over to HR around lunchtime to sort some silly paperwork out, and again I was struck by how beautiful this University is. It's one of the only ways you can get me to admit to love at first sight. I never had to walk by a second time. After the first I was hooked. There's just something about the area that I find strangely welcoming, serenely beckoning, and positively calming. And now it's a place that is full of memories of life -- beginnings and endings, smiles and tears, challenges and excitement. How do you ever really turn your back and walk away from something so definging, so pivotal in your life? And yet, here I am...trying to do just that. Again. Last weekend I moved just about all I have down to my new place in Georgetown (which looks simply wonderful and welcoming...come visit!). This week is my last week working in Princeton, and on Saturday I will pass on my house key and see what new adventures lie ahead. But at least I have strong friendships to travel with and a few more nights to celebrate the successes of the past years. So to new beginnings bolstered by experience I say cheers and adieu.
