Whaley Tail!

A Whale of a Time

When my 13-yr-old cousin came up to visit from RI, we took it as a chance to spend a summer weekend as we were meant to: the way we had as kids. Even though my sister had just had her wisdom teeth out, we still lined up all sorts of fun day trips and activities. We went to the Boston Museum of Science, where we saw an Omnimax about Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure. Then we saw a 3D film about the coral reef and a Butterfly Garden. It had been awhile since I'd been there, but the MoS always makes me happy. There was even a new optical illusion exhibit that was awesome! Monday was beautifully sunny...and so we hopped on one of Capt. John's Whale Watching boats and set out into the Atlantic. It was definitely one of the finest trips I'd been on. We saw a Minky, 2 Humpbacks, a Finback, and a Basking Shark. They were all so close to the boat and it was great to be out on the water. We topped off the whole weekend with a little salt water taffy, just like when I was a wee one :)

My 1st Apartment

Well I did it. Took longer than expected and hit a few more snags than hoped for, but I found a place to live in Princeton within walking distance of campus. It's even on Nassau St so go figure :) I'll be living with two other girls, who are (oddly) both from around Lexington, MA and who have seemed really friendly and easy to get along with. The house itself feels quite welcoming and has just about everything I was looking for during my search. The only big downside right now is that I am not supposed to move in until Sept 10th, while I think I need to be in NJ around Aug 29th or so for teaching. A bit difficult, but hopefully manageable. Tomorrow I meet my mentor teacher for the first time, so I am a bit excited to learn more about her and her classroom [gosh I sound really dorky! doh!]. Who knew? Ok time to figure out what all still needs to be done.
